Poetry about life, people, animals, religion, friendship, love, and everything that people care about. I write about everyday occurrences and events that have either happened to me or to others.
The Pedigree Adoption DriveTiny, big, medium or tall - short hair, long fur or sleek. Homes are needed for abandoned dogs - every single week. Encouragement, from "Pedigree" - awareness is their goal. Please adopt a dog - open your arms, hearts, and souls. Each dog is different - with their funny, quirky ways. Doing things that will leave you smiling for days! Invest some of your time, to teach them, and guide. Great love you will receive, from the companion by your side. Running around - with big grins on their faces, Enjoying their new life, with new smells and new places. Everlasting love, your new dog will give you. And, devotion aplenty - with a friendship so true. Don't ever judge them - for they will accept you as you are. Only, expect to be hero-worshiped, from near or afar! Plenty of time to form memories and laughter. To bond with you, play with you, but will need looking after. It's so rewarding - sharing your life with one dog, or more. Only, don't accept my word for it - (though it is hard to ignore!) Now is a good time to visit your local animal shelter. Dogs all in need of loving homes - each one a heart-melter. Retrievers, terriers, spaniels, crossbreeds - one will be just right for you. In need of a new start, and to live their lives through. Valiant people, come forward, your heart you must lend. Enjoy your new life, with your new four-legged friend. Pedigree adoption drive - http:www.pedigreeadoptiondrive.com. |

A Recipe for SpringWhat a lot of entertainment From some old bread that has gone stale Normally it would be just thrown away Yet, now it has created this tale. A rewarding fine sight will emerge just for you And, all you need is some bread that is old Eventually, (it'll take just a minute or two) You will see colours so clear and so bold. A slice, or two, of old bread - that is all Broken up into 'bite-size' pieces Then just scatter them around your garden Across lawns, by paths and near niches. Return to the comfort of your home Pull up a chair, and just wait It won't take long - just you see Your patience will reward you - its' fate! A brave one will appear by your unwanted bread Feasting quickly whilst abating its fear Then the others of its kind soon arrive along side For they all have the same idea! With hungry mouths to feed at home There really is no time to waste Just gobble some bread down quickly No time to savour the taste. After stealing a second for their own meal They gather as much as they can In their mouths, they cram it all in This banquet provided by Man. It is Spring, and the weather is sunny Refreshing - each morning, and clear They race for some food for their families Before others of their type draw near. Males and females taking turns From safe distances, one acts as the lookout For the dangers that are always present Whilst out 'shopping' for food, there's no doubt. Their children, back home, are all waiting Reliant on your old, stale bread bits The Sparrows, Blackbirds and Finches Also Magpies, Jackdaws and Tits. So, your pieces of stale bread are not wasted When broken up and strewn all around You'll be visited by all different birds each time When they spot you down there on the ground. It is a true recipe for Spring Pass it on, and let it be heard When your unwanted food gets 'recycled' Filling the bellies of new baby birds. Remember, all it takes is some bread Good intentions and patience, 'tis true Your reward is the trust from the parents When their babies they will bring to show you. With fluffy feathers, and now as big as their parents Though certainly nowhere near as wise The young fledglings all baying to be fed at once In your garden, right in front of your eyes. A small token of kindness from you each day With no baking involved on your part This simple recipe for Spring has unfolded Warm images to keep in your heart. |

To Them It Does Not MatterIf you're abled or disabled Or whatever colour your skin. To them, it's not important, You're just another of their kin. They also do not see you As too fat, too thin, no hair. And it's no relevance to them What fashions you decide to wear. They love you for you, just as you are And for the love that you give back They live for your smiles and your cuddles That's all they require, from the leader of their pack. They don't care if you are older And your joints, may creak and ache They have such adoration for you There's no need to change for their sake. They do not worry if your breath smells For they know that theirs does too, Your feet may pong, but to them - nothing's wrong And they won't talk about you, 'tis true! Never mind your sexuality To them - it makes no difference They love you, no matter what, you see Without question, or significance. What am I talking of here? Who is it that has no regret? Now, listen when I tell you all It's our dear, beloved pets. |

This poem is also on the Teeny Poet site at http://teenypoet.googlepages.com/tothemitdoesnotmatter..... Jasper's Poem - (If a dog could talk)I love you in the morning When you take me for a walk. Even when you stand around With people, when you all talk! I love you in the afternoon When you give me my first meal. And even though its beef, or lamb I don't want you to buy me veal! I love you in the evening When we lounge and watch TV. You in your armchair, me on the sofa Casualty - who cares, as long as you're with me. I love you in the nighttime When you let me roam the place. And if I feel a bit insecure, or lonely I visit your room to look at your face. I love you all of the time Because you are my wonderful Mum. And you look after and protect me When you're with me - I'm never glum. I'll love you even more and more Until my life is through. But until that time, I know I'll just Keep on loving you. |

ToffeeWe call you 'Toffee Apple' Or 'Baby', or 'Kitten' too We call you several affectionate names And they all suit you. You were born, in the house next door, on the 1st of June - 2003 was the year You were a tiny ball of ginger fluff And you kept trying to suck my ear! The year now is 2006 And you're almost three years old A lot has happened to you, little love But you were brave and bold. A car hit you and left you When you were seven months of age A broken pelvis - among your injuries Your tail amputated - you awoke in a cage. At the vets you stayed for a week And we were very worried for you We came to see you every day You gained strength, and you pulled through. We love you, like a child To us, you're our little boy Your funny ways - they do amuse You are such a treasured joy. This poem is all about you Toffee - our wonderful cat You give us your love, in return And we're honoured to have that. You're such a little darling A comedian, it's true! So to our special baby "Thanks for being you". |

My Dog JamieThe month was August 1986 was the year A bitch gave birth to her puppies Each one to be loved so dear We adopted one of those puppies The smallest of the lot Shetland Sheepdog - Sheltie for short He was like a little dot We christened him Jamie That cute little bundle of fluff He was very ill, but he fought it off For a little 'un - he was tough "Animals are dumb" So the saying goes But Jamie is intelligent From his nose down to his toes He really is a softy He rolls over on the mat But he lets the canine side down For his best friend is a cat! He's one of the family and we love him But at times he is a pest Here's a message in human talk "As dogs go - Jamie you are the best!" |

Ginger CatThere's a hole over there, that I haven't seen before I could have a big adventure, if I go in to explore What would I find? Maybe a well dressed mouse Or a gingerbread family baking a house I could be a lion in there - big, brave and strong A ruler of all territory; oh, how I would strut along! Standing before me, a jazz band of bats Trapeze artist rabbits, and lots of clockwork rats Poke my head inside the hole, to see what awaits me there Ablaze with cartoon characters, playing ludo on a chair Trumpet playing goldfish, horses placing bets on frogs Stampeding snails, with cat food tails, and elephants wearing clogs I could go over and take a look inside the strange new gap But the sun is out and I'm asleep - taking one of my hourly catnaps! |

A Dog's Eye ViewThere is a light ahead Where am I going? I've arrived - my first breath Mum? What are you doing? It's warm against her body Feeling safe with the others Why are we all different? Are those my sisters and brothers? I'm moving - but not with paws It's one of those human beings The little one is nearing What is all this that I'm seeing? Mum! Why are you staying? I'm being taken by the others We're moving away and they're looking at me Now I'll never see my Mother Ow! A sharp pain in my leg A hug from the human one She feeds me and plays with me Perhaps this life could be fun Funny - they touch with their mouths They talk to a thing by their ears They wear clothes and eat with sticks Have they done this for all these years? They move along in metal things They watch things in a square And listen to noises from a box I've got fur - they have hair I'm supposed to be a human's best friend I belong to the family - I do Some think I'm a dumb animal From what I've seen - so are you! |

Second ChanceHe looks at me So trustingly With those liquid brown eyes. You'd never know That a few years ago People's hearts were full of despise. He was taken to the shelter With a broken heart Along with broken bones. He had no fur He had no soul And he never had a home. Eleven dogs And many cats Were rescued from such evil. Just how can humans Do these things To one that gives love so freely? A cruelty case Prosecution followed And justice won the day. He'll give you his trust But your love is a must Until his days are over. He just wants love And care from me. It will be an honour to provide. |

SilkySpecial Silky, my first cat With gorgeous tabby stripes so neat. Black fur with golden lines amid And white bits on your feet. When I was born, you were so good Tolerating my newborn cries. Three years old, and in your prime Watching over me, with skilful eyes. As we both grew older - we became good friends Which was easy - for your nature was so good. When I was toddling, I would hold your tail Painful for you - but you understood. Your antics - so clever and amusing Your curiosity, it always knew best. Stalking shadows, chasing lights Or stealthily observing a birds nest. When fleas bothered and irritated you Mum fitted you with a collar. You hated it every single time Each new one made you holler! You were such a sweet-natured boy So loving, genteel and kind. A better temperament couldn't be wished for Along with such a wise, knowing mind. You lived to the grand age of nineteen Then it all became too much for you. Illness came upon you quickly Moving, feeding - was so hard to do. You ended your life on the vets table Where an injection induced you to sleep. You closed your eyes and were free from pain Causing your human family to cry so deep. I am glad that I knew you, Silky And that you were my first pet. I know we will be together again Some day, you and me - you bet. |
